Mission Overview
The “Cesar Vialpando” mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is unlocked early in the storyline after Carl (CJ) starts helping his sister Kendl’s boyfriend, Cesar Vialpando.
You’ll find the mission in the El Corona area of Los Santos. It introduces the lowrider challenge, a rhythm-based mini-game where you use your car’s hydraulics to match arrows appearing on-screen to the beat of Latin hip-hop music.
Objective
Meet Cesar at the lowrider meet in Unity Station.
Enter the Lowrider Challenge competition.
Match the arrows correctly to score higher than your opponent.
Winning the dance battle completes the mission and earns you respect in Los Santos.
Simple Steps to Pass the Mission Easily
Choose the Right Car
Visit Loco Low Co. or Transfender Garage in Los Santos.
Buy a Savanna, Blade, or Slamvan — cars that support hydraulics.
Press L3 (PS) / Left Ctrl + Numpad 8 5 4 6 (PC) to test your hydraulics.
Tip: The Savanna is the most stable and easiest to control during the challenge.
Practice the Timing
The arrows move toward the center of the circle; press the matching key or direction exactly when it hits the middle.
PC → Use the numpad (2, 4, 6, 8).
PlayStation → Use D-Pad (↑ ↓ ← →).
Xbox → Use D-Pad as well.
The music beat is your best cue — tap in rhythm instead of staring only at the screen.
Keep Your Camera Centered
If the camera shifts while driving into the competition spot, adjust it with Right Stick (consoles) or mouse drag (PC) so you face the stage directly — it helps read arrows faster.
Don’t Rush Inputs
Pressing keys too early or double-tapping gives you “Bad” or “Miss.”
Instead, wait for the arrow to align and press once
Tip: Using headphones helps you stay on beat more easily.
Optional — Use the Cheat Trick (for Fun Mode)
If you just want to progress the story and don’t mind cheating:
On PC, type SPEEDFREAK to make hydraulics super responsive.
On consoles, enable Slow Motion 1 (PS: ▲ ← → → □ R2 R1) to make arrows easier to time.
(Cheats disable achievements, so use wisely.)
Save Before Starting
Save your game at CJ’s safe house near El Corona before you begin.
If you lose, reload and try again without wasting in-game time or cash.
Bonus Tips
Winning gives you respect and unlocks new missions with Cesar later, including “High Stakes, Low Rider.”
Keep your lowrider afterward — it’s perfect for side events and impressing Grove Street.
The mission is easier on 30 FPS; on higher frame rates, timing can feel off (especially on PC remasters).
